Born at Derby and lived at Hyson Green, Nottingham. Son of Alfred and Hannah Pinkney, of 2, Bedford Square, Hyson Green, Nottingham. He enlisted at Nottingham and was killed in action, on 27th April 1918, aged 20, when a German shell burst nine gas shells in “A” Company tranches near Hulluch, France.
