Born at Derby and lived at Hyson Green, Nottingham. Son of Alfred and Hannah Pinkney, of 2, Bedford Square, Hyson Green, Nottingham. He was a professional soldier and enlisted at Nottingham. He went to France 4th November 1914 and died, 29th July 1915, aged 22, of inflammation of connective tissue of his head at No. 1, Canadian Hospital Etaples, France.
