Battalion : 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born in Nottingham and lived at 87, Ena Avenue, Sneinton Dale, Nottingham. Son of Matthew and Ada Notman, of 2 Alpine Terrace, Nottingham. He was a picture framer at Boots the Chemist prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th June 1915 and was killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 23, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
