Born at Staveley, Derbyshire. Son of Henry and Hannah of 143, Blake Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Florence, of 145 Blake Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. He was a coal miner proir to enlisting at Mansfield. He went to France 20th July 1915 and was killed in action, 5th October 1915, by German shellfire, prior to their attack on the trenches at Oder Houses, Potijze, Belgium.
