Born at Staveley, Derbyshire. Son of Henry and Hannah of 143, Blake Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Alice Lilliman, Newcastle Street, Mansfield. He enlisted at Mansfield and went to landed in Gallipoli 7th August 1915. He was killed in action 9th August 1915 during the attack at Ismail Oglu Tepe (Chocolate Hill), Gallipoli, Turkey.
