Born at Nottingham. Son of Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Lane. Lived at Alfreton, Derbyshire and enlisted at Chesterfield, Derbyshire, went to Gallipoli 28th August 1915. He was transferred to the 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to France. He died of wounds 28th September 1917, age 22.
