Born and lived at Shirebrook, Derbyshire. Son of Robert and Annie Hood, of 16 Market Street, Shirebrook. He enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and served in Gallipoli during 1915. He died of wounds on 23rd April 1918, aged 24.

Buried: Pernes British Cemetery, France. Plot 1. Row D. Grave 29.

His brother Private Albert Edward Hood, 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
