Born at Willenhall, Staffordshire and lived at Shirebrook, Derbyshire. Son of Robert and Annie Hood, of 16 Market Street, Shirebrook. He enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and served in Gallipoli during 1915 with the 9th Battalion and was killed in action, on 15th September 1916, aged 29. during the attack at Guillemont, France during the Battle of the Somme.
