He went to France on 8th September 1914 with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment) and died of wounds with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 20th August 1917, aged 28.
