Born at Nottingham. Son of James and Bridget Dolphin, of Loughborough, Leicestershire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 29th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 18th May 1915. Killed in action 1st July 1917, in the attack in the attack on the German lines east of Cite St. Theodore, near Lens, France.
