Born and lived at Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Faith Deverill, of 3 Council Place, Stockwell Street, Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. He was a hosiery bleacher prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 8th August 1917, during a raid on the German positions near Plouvain, France.
