Born at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Son of Enock and Myrah Clarke, of 48 Morven Street, Creswell, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 16th March 1915 and was killed in action, 19th June 1915, by German shellfire, whilst serving in the trenches near La Gorge, France.
Buried : Neuve-Chapelle British Cemetery, France. Special Memorial 4.
