Private Percy Carlile

Battalion : 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Whittington, Derbyshire. Son of Thomas and Sarah Ann Carlile, of 102 Holland Road, Old Whittington. He was a wagon builder at Sheepbridge Colliery prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 8th October 1916, in the attack on the German positions at the Schwaben Redoubt, France during the Battle of the Somme.
