Born at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and lived at Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Louisa Buxton, of Chesterfield. Husband of Mary Ann Duffel, Buxton, of 56, Newcastle Street, Huthwaite. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was killed in action, 27th April 1917, in the attack at Hargicourt, France.
