Private David Butters

Battalion: 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Nottingham  Son of David and Jane Butters, of Birkin Avenue, Hyson Green, Nottingham. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 1st July 1915 at Nottingham. He was discharged “having made a misstatement of his age on enlistment” on 28th June 1916. He later re-enlisted again at Nottingham and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)

His brother Corporal Claude Butters 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
