Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Westwood, Nottinghamshire. Son of Edgar and Jane Burton, of New Westwood. He was employed as a sanitary pipe maker prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, at age 28, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
