Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of James and Eliza Burton, of 3, Archer Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham. He was a printer’s labourer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action, on 21st September 1914, aged 23, during the German attack on the British line at Noyon, France.
