Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Thomas and Mary Burnett, of 60, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. He was a draughtsman prior to enlisting on 22nd February 1915 at Nottingham. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 11th September 1915 and went to France on 11th July 1916. He was killed in action, on 1st July 1917, aged 29, during the attack on the German positions to the west of Lens, France.
Buried: Maroc British Cemetery, Grenay, France. Plot 3, Row F. Grave 20.
