Private Robert Brindley

Battalion : 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of John William and Phoebe Brindley, of 55, Sherwood Street, East Kirkby, Nottinghamshire. He was a Grocery Manager prior to enlisting 12th December 1915 at Kirkby-in-Ashfield. He served in Dublin during the Irish Rebellion and suffered gunshot wounds to the fingers of his left hand, 26th April 1916. He went to France 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 26th September 1917, aged 22, during the attack on Otto Farm, near Gravenstafel, Belgium.
