Born at Retford, Nottinghamshire and lived at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Joseph and Ruth Bingley. Husband of Elizabeth Bingley, of 1 Simpsons Yard, Stockwell Gate, Mansfield. He was a bricklayers labourer prior to enlisting at Mansfield. he went to France on 27th August 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
