Born at Retford, Nottinghamshire and lived at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Joseph and Ruth Bingley. Husband of Mary Bingley, of Westfield Lane, Mansfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He was killed in action, 7th June 1917, whilst serving in the line near Hill 60, Belgium.

Buried: Bedford House Cemetery, Belgium. Enclosure No. 4 Plot 7. Row A. Grave 27.
