Lance Corporal Edward Bennett

Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Harpur Hill, Buxton, Derbyshire. Son of Edward and Ellen Bennett, of 26, Rock Bank Cottages, Harpur Hill. He was a quarry worker prior to enlisting at Buxton, October 1915. He was killed in action, 22nd May 1916, aged 28, whilst trying to rescue a comrade after the explosion of a mine while serving in the line at Gorre, France.
