Private John Bembridge

Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Belper, Derbyshire and lived at Parkside, Belper. Son of Thomas and Harriet Bembridge, of 1, Nottingham Road, Belper. He was a colliery labourer prior to enlisting on 4th September 1914. He went to France on 1st March 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
