Born and lived at Derby. Son of James and Emma Basford, of 21, Liversage Street, Derby. He was an Apprentice Jeweller prior to enlisting at Derby. He was killed in action, 26th September 1917, aged 25, during the attack on Otto Farm near Gravenstafel, Belgium.
