British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Riddings, Derbyshire. Son of George and Rosina Whittemore, of Lower Somercotes, Alfreton, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner at Bentinck Colliery, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Prior to enlisting 27th August 1914 at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He went to Gallipoli, 28th August 1915 and died, 15th October 1915, aged 23,  of gunshot wounds to his abdomen, at 26 Casualty Clearing Station, Imbros, Turkey.
