Went to France on 10th December 1915. Son of Arthur and Rose Whittaker, of 22, Church Street, Swadlincote, Burton-On-Trent; Husband of Susan Ann Lee (formerly Whittaker), of 172, Warsop Vale, Shirebrook, Nottinghamshire. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 27, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
