D.C.M. 1/7th Battalion:` London Gazette 3.6.1918: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty throughout operations. On one occasion he volunteered to carry an urgent message to the front line through a heavy barrage. During four day’s continuous fighting he set a magnificent example of courage and fortitude to the non-commissioned officers and men of his company:

Killed in Action 21.3.1918, when serving with the 2/7th (Robin Hood) Battalion in the Noreuil Sector.
