Lance Corporal Peter White

Battalion: 6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. Son of George and Phoebe Ann White, of 8 Park Street, Clay Cross. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 23rd May 1911 at Clay Cross. He went to France on 28th February 1915. He suffered gunshot wounds to his arms on 6th July 1915 and was admitted to No.8 Casualty Clearing Station, Bailleul, France on 11th July 1915. He was then transferred to No. 3 British Red Cross Hospital at Abbeville, France where he died of these wounds, on 24th August 1915 aged 22.
