2nd Lieut. Temp Capt: 1/7th (Robin Hood) Battalion: London Gazette 18th November 1915, For conspicuous gallantry at Hohenzollern Redoubt on October 13th 1915, when with a party of four men, he held back the enemy in “Little Willie” for three hours. When the enemy got into the trench behind him he withdrew across the open into the Western face of the Redoubt, where he built and occupied a barrier. Here he personally helped in bombing back a strong attack and held the trench for 14 hours. Captain Warrens’s name has previously been brought to notice for gallant conduct:  
Son of John Crosby Warren and Mary Frances Warren, of Private Road, Sherwood, Nottingham; husband of Gladys Mary Warren. Educated Sedbergh And Trinity College, Oxford. (M.A.).
Died: 21st March 1918, aged 28.
Buried: Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France. Plot 2. Row F. Grave 18.
