Born and resided in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Enlisted in the East Lancashire Regiment (Private, 4277), at Nelson, Lancashire. Transferred to the 2/6th Sherwood Foresters and died on the 16th April 1918 whilst the battalion were in an outpost position in front of Kemmel, on the Ypres Salient, Belgium.
