Born and lived at New Brinsley, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Mary E. Vickers, of New Brinsley. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 23rd February 1916 at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. He was posted to the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 22nd April 1918, went to France on 14th August 1918 and was posted to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 18th August 1918. He was killed in action, on 4th November 1918, aged 25, during the attack on German positions, near Poix-du-Nord, France.
Buried: Cross Roads Cemetery, Fontaine-Au-Bois, France. Plot 3. Row B. Grave 19.
