Corporal William Sydney Urwin

Battalion: 1st Garrison Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Scarborough, Yorkshire. Son of Arthur and Jane Ann Urwin of 22 Victoria Road, Scarborough. He was a confectioner prior to enlisting on 5th December 1914 at Scarborough into the 2/5th Yorkshire Regiment. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 23rd December 1914 and went to Gallipoli on 24th October 1915 probably with theĀ  6th Service Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. He was promoted to Corporal on 12th November 1915. Transferred 1st Garrison Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 1st August 1918, returned to England 21st February 1919 and died 16th March 1919, age 28.

Buried: Scarborough (Manor Road) Cemetery, United Kingdom. M Border 14.
