Corporal Leonard Tomlinson

Battalion: 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Basford, Nottingham. Son of Albert and Mary Ellen Tomlinson, of 22, Mandalay Street, Old Basford. He was a town labourer before enlisting in Nottingham on 31st August 1914. He went to France on 14th July 1915. He was admitted to hospital in Boulogne, France with gout on 4th April 1917 and was sent to England on Hospital Ship St. David on 14th April 1917. He returned to France on 27th July 1917 and was appointed Lance Corporal on 30th August 1917. He was admitted to a field ambulance with shell shock on 28th September 1917 and rejoined his battalion on 16th October 1917. He was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
