Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Herbert and Elizabeth Thorpe, of Barrow-On-Trent, Derby. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, on 12th March 1915, aged 23, in the German counter-attack and then the British counter-attack during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
