Born at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire and lived at Rainworth Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner at Rufford Colliery, Nottinghamshire, prior to enlisting at Mansfield Nottinghamshire, and was killed in action during he Battle of the Somme 14th October 1916.
