Born at Arnold, Nottinghamshire. Son of Nathan and Ann Sulley, of Drayton’s Yard, Arnold, Nottinghamshire. Educated at the British School, Front Street, Arnold was married to Fanny Cooke on 20th April 1913. Husband of Fanny Sulley, of 1, Robinson Yard, Arnold, Nottinghamshire. He was a bricklayers labourer. He enlisted on 7th March 1904 and served with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters in India for 3 years before returning home in 1912. He re-enlisted on 5th August 1914 and went to France on 8th September 1914. He was admitted to No. 33 casualty clearing station with gunshot wounds to his head on 20th June 1916. On the 4th July 1916, he was sent to the General Hospital at St. Omer, transported to England on 21st August 1916 via hospital ship (H.S. St. Denis) and then on to King George’s hospital London. He died on 11th September 1916, aged 30.
