Son of William and Elizabeth Stokes, of 185, Coventry Road, Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, on 12th March 1915 in the German counter-attack and then the British counter-attack during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
