Born at Derby. Husband of Hilda M. Smith. He enlisted at Derby and went to France 14th July 1915. Killed in action, 14th February 1916, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres, Belgium.
