Born in Arnold. Son of Thomas and Hannah, of St. Albans Road, Arnold, Nottingham. He was a miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France on 27th January 1915 and was killed in action, on 12th March 1915 in the German counter-attack and then the British counter-attack during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
