Born and lived at Leicester. Son of Joseph and Ada Smith, of 47, Justice Street, Leicester. He enlisted at Leicester and was killed in action, 24th November 1916, during a German artillery barrage, whilst on a working party to the north of Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
