Battalion : 2/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
He was born and lived at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Son of Alfred and Mary Simpson, of 149, Eastgate, Worksop. He was a gardener at Welbeck Abbey prior to enlisting at Worksop. He served in Dublin, during the Irish rebellion in 1916. He later went to France and was killed in action, 7th April 1917, aged 23, during the attack at Le Verguier, north-west of Saint Quentin, France.
