Second Lieutenant Odo Louis David Mackay Simpson

Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born 8th February 1885. Son of Sir Walter Grindley Simpson, Bart and Lady Simpson, of Balabraes, Ayton, Berwickshire. Educated at Eton College. He went to Canada in 1913 and worked as a lawyer in Alberta. He enlisted in the 32nd Battalion Canadian Infantry in September 1914 and sailed to England in February 1915. He transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters on 1st September 1915 and went to France on 29th May 1916. He joined the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters on 5th June 1916 and was wounded at Beaumonth Hamel, Somme and evacuated to England. On recovery, he rejoined the 2nd Battalion and was killed in action on 13th July 1918 at Ridge Wood near Ypres, Belgium age 34.
