Son of John William Bramhall Simpson and Julia Simpson, of “South Dene,” Ashgate Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Went to France 14th May 1916. Died of wounds 7th July 1916, aged 30, from wounds received in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on 1st July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
