Born and lived at Staveley, Derbyshire. Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Shooter, of 3, Mill Houses, Staveley, Chesterfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield., Derbyshire. He went to France on 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, on 14th February 1916, aged 19, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres, Belgium.
