Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of George and Ellen Scraton, of Mount Pleasant, Nook End, Heanor, Derbyshire; Husband of Harriet Brown (formerly Scraton), of Thorpe, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Went to France on 10th November 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 23, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
