Born at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Alfred and Agnes Scott. He lived at 6, John Street, New Cross, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a miner for Pinxton Colliery Company, Langton, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Sutton-in-Ashfield, 2nd May 1913 and went to France 20th June 1915. He was killed in action 7th August 1915
