Awards : D.C.M. (Distinguished Conduct Medal) London Gazette 5.8.1915: For conspicuous gallantry on the 13th May, 1915, and on many previous occasions. On the 16th May, 1915, near Le Toquet, he voluntarily went down a mine, which was full of gas, several times, and rescued men suffering from gas poison. Finally he was himself overpowered by the fumes and lost his life.

Died : 16th May 1915, age 32.
