Son of Mrs. Jane Hancock, of 6, Abbey Buildings, Ilkeston Road, Old Radford, Nottingham. Went to France on 25th February 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 22, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
