Born at Bourne, Lincolnshire, and lived at North Fen, Bourne, Lincolnshire. Son of John Thomas and Sarah Ann Rouse, of 6, Mills Cottages, South Fen, Bourne, Lincolnshire. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Bourne. He was attached to the 1st South Staffordshire Regiment. Killed in action 15th July 1916, aged 19.

Buried: Serre Road Cemetery No.2, France. Plot 5. Row D. Grave 10.
