Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Fishpool, Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire. Son of John Charles and Ann Selina Rose, of Chapel Lane, Fishpool, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He attempted twice to enlist at Mansfield and was refused because of defective eyesite. but he eventually managed to enlist at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. He went to France 6th March 1916 and was killed in action near Bethune, France, 13th April 1916, age 18.
